Summary
Continuous water quality data are collected at four water quality stations (Station ID's: gtmpiwq, gtmsswq, gtmfmwq, gtmpcwq) located within the Guana Tolomato Matanzas NERR in 15-minute intervals for eight parameters using protocols established by the National Estuarine Research Reserve's System-Wide Monitoring Program. (SWMP). Continuous WQ data, protocols, and metadata can be downloaded at: https://www.nerrsdata.org .
Parameters
water temperature (°C), specific conductivity (mS/cm), salinity (psu), dissolved oxygen (%), dissolved oxygen (mg/L), depth (m), pH and turbidity (NTU/FNU), Chlorophyll a (µg/L), Uncorrected Chlorophyll a (µg/L), TN (mg/L), NO23 (mg/L), NH4 (mg/L), NO2 (mg/L), NO3 (mg/L), TKN (mg/L), DIN (mg/L), TON (mg/L), DOC (mg/L), fecal coliform (cfu), TP (mg/L), PO4 (mg/L), TSS (mg/L), secchi (m), color (pcu), Kd (m-1), Irradiance (µmole photons/m2/s, discrete - water temperature (°C), discrete - salinity (psu), discrete - dissolved oxygen (mg/L), discrete - pH
Notes
Several sites were also sampled by NEAP (Program 5016): GTMPINUT, GTMSSNUT, GTMFMNUT, and GTMPCNUT. NEAP samples were collected at surface water depth, while GTM samples were collected at one meter off bottom. Continuous WQ and discrete nutrient data available from CDMO (see Data Update Process for NERRs using CDMO Data - 2025-9-18.docx). Discrete nutrient data also loaded to WIN.
Application
To measure changes in estuarine waters that help provide a better understanding of how human activities and natural events can affect coastal resources and to provide valuable data on the short-term variability and long-term changes in estuaries to researchers, natural resource managers and other coastal decision-makers.
