Parameters
route, observers, date, start/end time, survey coverage/ method, breeding adults, nest location, adult behavior, number of eggs, number of chicks, number of nestlings, age of chicks, status of nest, nest fate, disturbance, tracks, dogs, beach raking, posted, wet wrack
Notes
Application
This data is used to determine the nest success and recruitment of shorebird populations. It is also used to determine nesting habitat for seasonal closures and future management.
Publications
This data is shared with FWC and FSA through the Florida Shorebird Database. The data is also discussed at the Collier County Partnership Shorebird Meeting.

Method
Beach-nesting birds are monitored through behavioral observations. Nests of birds are located through careful observations by visually following the bird or following tracks. Locations with nests are posted and closed to the public to help reduce disturbance. Weekly nest checks are conducted to determine nest fate. Colony nesting birds are monitored from outside a posted colony. Solitary nesting birds are monitored by observing the parent on the nest. Visibility of the nest may include walking inside a posted area for solitary nesting birds.
Discontinuity
Higher frequency of data collection from 2015 to 2018, Wilson's plover nests were visited more frequently during this time period
