Summary
This is a monitoring effort that collects data on wading/ seabird nests in RBNERR rookeries. Three locations within RBNERR are monitored.
Parameters
rookery name, number of adults birds, number of nests, number of chicks, number of juveniles, observers, number of predators (crow, falcon)
Notes
Application
Wading birds are an important indicator of hydrology systems. Nesting levels correlate with the water depth in the surrounding environment. Wading birds require shallow water for foraging, and cannot nave nesting success without access to aquatic prey. Nesting numbers reflect on the health of the ecosystem.
Publications
The Critical Wildlife Area rookery data is shared with FWC. All data is shared with South Florida Water Management District. Curcie rookery data is shared with USFWS.
