- Summary
- This project was a collaborative effort to conduct water quality surveys in Southeast Florida counties (Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade) from December 2009 to September 2011. Quarterly surveys were conducted to measure physical, chemical, and biological water quality parameters and water samples collected for laboratory analysis.
- Parameters
- Depth (m), salinity (psu), temperature (deg. C), dissolved oxygen (mg/L), turbidity (NTU), light attenuation (Kd in m^-1), nitrate (mg/L), nitrite (mg/L), ammonium (mg/L), dissolved inorganic nitrogen (mg/L), soluble reactive phosphate (mg/L), total nitrogen (mg/L), total organic nitrogen (mg/L), total organic carbon (mg/L), total phosphorus (mg/L), silicate (mg/L), and chlorophyll a (ug/L)
- Notes
- ID_5033 split into two programs ID_5058 and ID_5033
- Application
- To provide data to describe the status and temporal trends of water quality in the Southeast Florida region, and to detect change in the ecosystem and link observed changes and spatial differences with reef health.

- Method
- Grab water samples sent for laboratory analysis of nutrients, turbidity, chlorophyll a, and total suspended solids. Depth, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) measured with Seabird CTD. Vertical light attenuation coefficient calculated as a log function from PAR. 2016-present: Salinity measured with refractometer.
