- Summary
- Monthly surface water grab samples are taken at 10 sites in each of the following systems: Withlacoochee River, Crystal River, Homosassa River, Chassahowitzka River, Weeki wachee River, Aripeka River, Hudson River, Pithlachascotee River and Anclote River system / Gulf of Mexico tributaries. Samples are analyzed for nitrogen and phosphorus. A sub-sample is filtered at each site and analyzed for chlorophyll.
- Parameters
- depth (m), vertical secchi (m), temp (*C), salinity (ppt), DO (mg/L and %), pH (SU), total N, total P, light attenuation, chlorophyll a, and color (light attenuation data are not available in historic STORET dataset)
- Notes
- Project COAST sampling historically occurred in more river systems along the Gulf Coast, specifically in the Big Bend Region. Currently, monthly COAST sampling occurs in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco Counties along the Gulf Coast of Florida. Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) (https://data.florida-seacar.org/programs/details/479 ) samples quarterly at Project COAST sites: (Pasco Co) (n=19); (Hernando, Citrus, & Levy) (n=22); Springs Coast Offshore WQ Monitoring (n=3).
- Application
- Baseline data can be used to assess changes in nutrient concentrations and eutrophication

- Discontinuity
- Project COAST has a data gap in WIN from January 2020 through February 2021. The location of data from 2010 through 2015, and 2016 through 2019 is unknown.
- Data Location
- Project COAST data for 1/22/1997 through 12/30/2009 is available through Florida STORET, org. ID 21FLPCWS (90 stations); Data for 1/27/2015-11/5/2015 is available through Florida STORET, org. ID 21FLSWFD (64 stations); See STORET station lists in protocols document Project-Coast-Stations-Params-21FLPCSW-21FLSWFD.xlsx; WQ data Jan. 2020 and later available through WIN, org ID 21FLUFSW.
